When Piece of Cake launched in May, it launched with one game — Switch — and a promise: more games were coming, all on the same subscription, with nothing extra to buy. Today we're making good on that promise twice over. Gin Rummy and Farkle are live in the app right now, and if you're already subscribed, they're already yours.
Gin Rummy: The Thinking Player's Card Game
Gin Rummy has been settling scores across kitchen tables for over a century, and the appeal hasn't aged a day. Draw a card, work it into your melds — sets of matching values or runs in the same suit — and discard what you don't need. The tension is all in the timing: knock early with 10 points of deadwood or less and catch your opponents holding a mess, or hold out for gin — every card melded, zero deadwood — and take the strongest score of all.
Traditionally, gin is a two-player duel. We didn't want to ship a game that only worked for two people in an app built around tables of up to 14 — so we adapted it. Piece of Cake's Gin Rummy scales to the whole table using extra decks, and scores every opponent against the round winner. Two players get the classic head-to-head; a full table gets something you've probably never played before.
Farkle: Our First Dice Game
Farkle is the purest push-your-luck game we know, and it marks a first for Piece of Cake: dice on the table. You might know it as 10,000, Zilch, or Dix Mille — or from a certain Bohemian role-playing game that introduced a whole generation to it.
The loop is simple and vicious. Roll six dice. Set aside what scores — single 1s and 5s, three of a kind, straights. Then choose: bank your turn's points and stay safe, or roll the remaining dice and build the subtotal higher. Roll nothing that scores, and that's a Farkle — everything you hadn't banked is gone. Score with all six dice and they're hot: pick them all up and keep going. First player to bank the table's target score wins.
We built Farkle with proper 3D dice that tumble across the table — no flat sprites, no fake suspense. And because every group plays Farkle slightly differently, each table can tune its own house rules: the target score, an opening threshold before your points count, a final round so everyone gets a last chance, bonus combos like three pairs and two triplets, and a penalty for three Farkles in a row. Rolls happen server-side, like every move in Piece of Cake — so the dice are provably beyond anyone's thumb.
Same Tables, Same Subscription
Both games slot straight into everything Piece of Cake already does. Create a private table and send friends a join link, or open a public one. Play a quick round in real time, or stretch a game across days with quiet turn alerts. Add AI opponents to fill seats or practise on your own. Everything is validated on the server, so nobody can peek at a hand or fudge a roll.
And the pricing promise holds: one subscription, every game in the catalogue — Switch, Gin Rummy, Farkle, and everything still to come. No coin packs, no ads, no per-game purchases. It's €1.99 a month or €9.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial.
