How to Actually Use It

• Start below reaction. Play the rustle at a volume your dog notices but doesn't launch at. If they're already up and staring, it's too loud.
• Reward the calm, not the reaction. Mark and reward your dog for staying settled while the sound plays — this is where the clicker earns its keep.
• Raise the volume in small steps. Only move up when the current level is genuinely boring. Multiple short sessions beat one long one.
• Break the prediction. Because the sound now sometimes means nothing at all, the crinkle gradually stops being a guaranteed food announcement.

That last point is the one that changes daily life. You're not teaching your dog to ignore food — you're teaching them that a rustle on its own isn't news.
