Privacy Policy

Effective date: 30 August 2026 · Version 1.0

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Braintide (the “App”) collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and the rights you have over it. The App is published by TritonApps (“we”, “us”), an indie studio based in the Republic of Ireland. We are the data controller for personal data processed through the App.

Braintide is a brain-training game for iOS and Android. Understanding how it handles your data starts with one principle: Braintide is local-first. There is no Braintide account, no login, no cloud sync, no analytics, no advertising and no server of our own. Everything you play is written to a database on your own device and stays there.

1. Who we are

TritonApps is a sole trader based in the Republic of Ireland and is the controller for any personal data processed through the App. You can reach us at privacy@tritonapps.com.

2. What we collect, when, and why

Your training data — stored on your device only

Every round you play, your per-skill levels, your streak, your achievements, your checkpoint results and your settings are written to a database on your device. None of it is transmitted to us and we cannot see any of it. Deleting the App deletes it.

Purchases — if you buy Braintide Pro

Braintide Pro is sold through the App Store and Google Play. We never see or handle your payment details — the store takes the payment and tells us only whether an entitlement is active.

To keep track of that, the App uses RevenueCat, which receives a randomly generated identifier for your installation together with the purchase and renewal status reported by the store. That identifier is not your name, your email address or your store account: it is a random string created on your device. We use it for one purpose — deciding whether to unlock Pro, including when you reinstall or restore.

Lawful basis: performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) — we cannot deliver a purchase you have paid for without it.

Reminders — scheduled on your device

If you switch on the daily reminder, it is scheduled as a local notification by your operating system. There is no push token and no server. We never learn when, whether, or how often you train.

Exporting your data

The Profile screen writes your entire training history to a JSON file in the App's own storage and hands it to your device's share sheet. The file is created on your device and is not uploaded anywhere. Where it goes next is entirely your choice.

3. The microphone, in detail

Five of the 82 games — Say When, Hold the Note, Fade Out, Clap Back and Clap the Count — use the microphone, and they are the reason the App asks for permission. What they read is the level meter: one number, roughly sixty times a second, describing how loud the room is.

4. What we do not collect

5. Sub-processors

We use exactly one, and only if you make a purchase:

Apple and Google also process your purchase as the sellers of the App, under their own privacy policies rather than ours.

6. Children

Braintide is rated suitable for ages 4 and over and contains nothing unsuitable for children, but it is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone. Because there is no account and no profile, the App has no way of learning a user's age or identity.

7. How long we keep it

Your training data is kept on your device for as long as you keep the App and is removed when you delete it. Purchase records held by RevenueCat are retained for as long as the subscription is active and for the period our sub-processor and the stores require for billing, tax and dispute-handling purposes.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Ireland, the Data Protection Commission.

In practice, most of these you can exercise yourself and immediately, because the data is on your device: access and portability through the one-tap JSON export on the Profile screen, and erasure by deleting the App. For anything held by RevenueCat, write to privacy@tritonapps.com and we will action it within one month.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change what the App collects, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top before the change ships.
