Driver Theory Test · Categories C, D & CD
Practise the real shape of the test.
One hundred questions. Two hours. Seventy-four to pass — for a truck licence and for a bus licence. Truck & Bus Theory Ireland is built around the papers you will actually sit, not around a generic quiz engine: pick truck, bus or both, and the questions, mocks, readiness and case studies follow the test you are sitting next.
What’s inside
Two licences in one app, with the subject areas for each weighted the way the real test weights them, and everything stored on your device. Works with no signal — no account, no ads, no analytics.
Full mock tests
A full category C or D mock is one hundred questions in two hours, with a pass mark of 74. The truck and bus module tests are 40 questions with 30 to pass in 45 minutes, and the combined CD paper is 140 questions with 104 to pass in 180 minutes, drawn from both full banks. One overall result — no invented per-section thresholds, because the real test does not have them.
Truck, bus or both
Tell the app which test you are sitting next and the subject areas, questions, mocks, readiness and case studies follow it. Switch any time — progress on questions the two licences share carries across.
Over 1,700 questions, explained
Every question explains why the right answer is right, and each is written from a primary source — the Rules of the Road, EU drivers’ hours, tachograph and passenger-rights rules, Irish road traffic and PSV regulations, and the Traffic Signs Manual.
Driver CPC case studies
Step 2 of the Driver CPC is a different exam: three case studies of fifteen questions, passed only with at least 5 in each and 28 overall. Forty-five scenarios — load securing for trucks, wheelchair boarding for buses, roadside checks for both — marked on both conditions, so a strong total never hides a weak one.
Passenger guides
Passengers is the largest area of the category D test. Four guides cover accessibility and mobility, emergencies and evacuation, difficult situations, and school transport. Two are free.
Tachograph trainer
Reading a tachograph is a visual skill, so it is drilled rather than described — twenty symbol, pictogram and chart questions, free in full.
Study modes that adapt
Learn takes an area at your own pace with the explanation after each answer. Quick 10 mixes what is due, what is weak and what you have not seen. Smart Review targets the questions you are most likely to get wrong next.
Signs Trainer
Eighty-seven Irish road signs — regulatory, warning, information, motorway and roadworks — browsable, with a detail view for each and a drill mode.
Honest readiness
A readiness view that stays quiet until you have answered 250 questions for your test, then reports recent accuracy weighted by how many marks each area actually carries. A guide to what to revise next, not a prediction of your result.
Stamina mode
The real paper is two hours without a break. Stamina mode takes the pause button away, because practising in ten-minute chunks hides whether concentration is your limit.
Plain-English glossary
Forty-three definitions for the terms that cost marks — the wording the test uses that candidates most often misread.
Test-day guide
What to bring, what ID is accepted, how long your certificate lasts, and what actually happens at the test centre.
See it before you buy it
Screens from the release build — the home screen, the papers for each licence, a mock under exam conditions, the explanation behind an answer, a passenger guide and the tachograph trainer.

Written from the sources, not scraped
Every question is independently authored against a primary source — the Rules of the Road, the Traffic Signs Manual, or the legislation itself — and the app carries a Sources screen listing what each part of the bank was written from.
Road traffic law changes. Speed-limit defaults on regional and local roads changed in February 2025, and other provisions are enacted but not yet commenced. Content that depends on a rule liable to change records when it was last checked and is reviewed against the legislation before every release.
Free guides to the truck and bus tests and Driver CPC
Plain-English explanations of the tests themselves, written from published RSA sources and free to read — no app required.
The truck theory test
Category C format and marks, eligibility, and where it fits the CPC route.
The bus theory test
Category D format and marks, the age-21 rule, and where it fits the CPC route.
The Driver CPC case study test (truck)
Three case studies, 45 questions, and two pass conditions you must clear at once.
The Driver CPC case study test (bus)
The same two pass conditions, and what the bus scenarios tend to involve.
Tachograph and drivers’ hours
The heaviest topic in the category C test, and how to revise it.
Carrying passengers safely
The largest topic in the category D test, and the one with no car-driving equivalent.
