Car & Bike Theory Ireland

Driver Theory Test · Categories BW & AM

Practice the real shape of the test.

Forty questions. Forty-five minutes. Thirty-five to pass — for both the car and motorcycle tests. Car & Bike Theory Ireland keeps separate BW and AM banks, mocks, readiness and unlocks in one app, so you prepare for the category you will actually sit.

For category BW candidates — car, tractor and work vehicles — and category AM candidates preparing for a moped or motorcycle learner permit. Switch category at any time; there is no invented combined BW+AM exam.

Independent app. Car & Bike Theory Ireland is an independent study application. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by the Road Safety Authority (RSA) or Prometric. Practice questions are independently authored and are not official Driver Theory Test questions.

What’s inside

Two real test categories in one app, each with its own five subject areas and independently weighted bank, with everything stored on your device.

Full mock tests

A full BW or AM mock is forty questions in forty-five minutes, drawn across that category’s five areas in the published proportions. Pass mark 35. One overall result — no invented per-section threshold or combined car-and-bike paper.

Car or motorcycle

Choose BW or AM and the questions, mocks, readiness, terminology and guidance follow. Switch any time. Progress on genuinely shared road-law and signs questions carries across without mixing category-specific results.

Study modes that adapt

Learn at your own pace with the explanation after each answer, or take a Quick 10 that mixes what is due, what is weak and what you have not seen. Smart Review targets the questions you are most likely to get wrong next.

Signs Trainer

Regulatory, warning, information, motorway and roadworks signs — browsable, with a detail view for each and a drill mode. Drawn from data, so every sign stays sharp at any size, in light or dark mode.

Honest readiness

A readiness view that stays quiet until you have answered enough for it to mean something, then reports recent accuracy weighted by how many marks each area actually carries. A study aid, not a prediction.

Plain-English glossary

Definitions for the terms that cost marks — the wording the test uses that candidates most often misread.

Driver and rider guides

Test-day and booking guidance for both categories, plus motorcycle-specific material on Initial Basic Training, licence progression, protective equipment and rider checks.

See it before you buy it

Screens from the release build — the mock, the explanation behind an answer, the Signs Trainer, and the register of sources every question was written from.

Written from the sources, not scraped

Every question is independently authored against a primary source — the Rules of the Road, the Traffic Signs Manual, or the legislation itself — and the app carries a Sources screen listing what each part of the bank was written from.

Road traffic law changes. Speed-limit defaults on regional and local roads changed in February 2025, and other provisions are enacted but not yet commenced. Content that depends on a rule liable to change records when it was last checked and is reviewed against the legislation before every release.
